01.16.2007 GHOSTBUSTERS VIDEO GAME UPDATE

Yesterday I reported on the possibility of a Ghostbusters game that may be in development. Bostjan Troha, the CEO of Zootfly, has responded to IGN and confirmed what we've hoped for - the videos from yesterday were in-game footage of an early prototype running on an Xbox 360 using ZootFly's proprietary engine. Unfortunately though, due to licensing issues, development on the game has come to a stop as the ownership of a Ghostbusters IP is resolved.

But ZootFly is currently working on an original game called TimeO, that is closely related to Ghostbusters. "The game follows the adventures of two die-hard New Yorkers. They get trapped deep in the shadow world of a parallel New York. The city itself is a war machine threatening to wipe out our world and they have three days to stop it." As you can see in the footage above and below, the setting looks slightly like a grim metropolis version of Shadow of the Colossus, as the dude clings to all angles of the large 'war machine.' I also can't help but think of "Save the cheerleader" from the television show Heroes with the dramatic text of "Three days, two worlds, one chance" that plays through both video previews.

Hopefully ZootFly can work everything out, because the only thing that's certain for now is that a lot of people want to play a next-gen Ghostbusters video game, regardless of who's making it and whether or not we'll ever see a Ghostbuster 3 movie. It would be awesome if there was co-op play where if you die, your partner can suck up your ghost and release you to let you respawn with a new life. I'll be keeping an eye on this game.
