Top 5 plus my rational: #5 Xbox-for embracing online play and doing it right. #4 Nintendo 64-for defining the 3D console world and for the analog control. #3 Playstation-for rejuevenating the industry and introducing epic cinematics #2 Playstation 2-for demonstrating the sheer immersive power of video games as a nearly artistic medium. #1 SNES-for raising the bar so high, forcing to developers to stop worrying about how to make a game to amuse children, and to start trying to best themselves in what was becoming a more serious medium.

Sega Saturn? This is a list about the BEST consoles. Sega Saturn had a couple gems but the fact that you can't find a single game for it anywhere- while you can still finds tons of NES, SNES, PS1 and N64 games in used games stores say something. And I think N64 should've been a bit higher- analog stick, trigger button, 4 controller ports, mix of excellent single and multiplayer games- Every console since has had some or all of these features.

Genesis does what Ninten-don't. Enough said. 1 - PS2 (DVDs, backward capability, ungodly gaming library, etc.), 2 - Genesis (16 bit, tried and failed numerous things to evolve 32x, different control pads, sega cd add on, etc...) 3 - NES (Super Mario, Duck Hunt, and Gyromite - enough said - it had a friggin robot) 4 - Atari 2600 (Combat ?), 5 - probably Super Nintendo (more buttons, good games) After that, its a horse a piece. N64 was good, but not great. Same with the original PS.

I just played the demo and whooped some guys ass in 2 minutes. The live doesn't look like it'll be fun...actually it looks like it'll be really frustrating because the tiberium gets harvested REALLY fast. So you can have an army ready for a full onslaught in 2 minutes.

Playstation 1 was good but I think PS2 was better. And it's definitely cheap that Gameboy got two spots. Gameboy Advance isn't far enough away from original Gameboy, it's just a pumped up Gameboy Color with shoulder buttons.

Well if anyone here wants retro Sega games but don't feel like paying so much get a Gametap subscription, they have a ton of old Sega games (Shining in the Darkness is one of them). I'm sure a lot of these games you can play, finish, and never need to play again.

*sigh* Just when I was about to jump out of my seat and holler at the top of my lungs "THAT WAS THE MOST AWESOME THING IN THE HISTORY OF TIME!!" . . . the end comes. The lesbian innuendo was completely out of place (and stomach-turning in its offensiveness - and I'm a guy!),and the dance scene at the end seemed like more of a massive middle finger to fans than anything else. btw, thanks for making it Nicole instead of Master Chief (which is what I assume you did, anyway). Ho-hum. Pointless twist.

So because I played FEAR, I'm going to be able to slow down time, jump over my enemies and kick them dead with one hit to the cranium? How about my EQ2 playing? Will I be able to summon the dead and go slay dragons or be able to forge weapons in the basement of my meager apartment with ease because I've 'trained' for it in a video game? Sure FPS can give you some sort of odd ability to learn military strategy but wouldn't seeing your first victim kinda shake a normal human being up after seeing blood and possibly brain matter scatter around? You can argue desensitization all you want but the fact is if video games were really "CAUSING" all this, wouldn't oh, 99% more of the people who play these damn games act out?

if you find the guy above interesting you should really check out Golan Levins' manual input sessions at the above adress .. he was using a very similar idea to create experimental musical performances 3 years ago.. check out the videos at the bottom of the page ... if the fawning little weasel (interviewer )had seen them he would have popped.

JT did his damage, he has gained the publics' "trust" it is more insulting to loose to some one like JT then to loose to some one who has intelligence, probity the only reason why JT is winning (with few defeats such as this one)is that the media (not just FOX) loves him, just like Paris Hilton, Westboro Church etc, if we [every one or a vast majority] were to ignore the media on issues like these there "powers" may be lost and they would not get much media coverage if any.

Thompson isn't refusing to look at the real issues, he's completely oblivious - as is anyone else who still listens to him. He shot his wad nice and early on this one, wanting to get in on the ground floor of the next round of lawsuits against whichever videogame company was going to eventually get the blame.
Now he's been left hanging. Couple that with the fact that he's going to have a lot of free time after being prevented from harassing T2/Rockstar over the release of GTAIV, and we may well be seeing the last of him in the media, at least for the time being.

All the rich kids who've had everything handed to them, get all the popularity, all the girls, live great lives and never have to feel true pain have the nerve to treat less fortunate people like shit. I seem to be one of the few who thinks the idea of spreading FFXIII across a decade with multiple games in the same universe is pretty cool. It'll draw you into a particle world that you'll recognize even though the stories change. I know Squeenix is the best company for making a project like this- I'm excited.
