02.16.2007 METROID DELAYED AGAIN, EARTHBOUND ON WII?
Today the heat turned off in my house, which Sux 2BMe since Pittsburgh has been freezing all week. I got the skills to pay the bills though, so I just went into Grandpa Fronz mode and put on another pair of socks hoping it would just decide to fix itself while I posted some more stories. A few hours later I'm at 50 degrees in my house and it feels like I'm typing on a block of ice, so I finally went down into the basement to bang some pipes and make things work, but I have to go outdoors to get to my basement (yah, it's one of those basements - the type you never use). I came back ten minutes later defeated with one of my feet covered in snow, and when I went to get new socks I discovered that my doubling up StarCraft strategy used the last of my clean pair - damnit! Then a few minutes later I realized my left foot had two clean socks on it, and I could just have my right foot borrow from the left.
In equally surprising news, Metroid Corruption isn't coming out any time soon for Nintendo Wii. Duh? I'm surprised other sites are so damn surprised - they skimmed over the most important part of the whole MTV interview with Reggie. Combining his words with a related recent Nintendo announcement, I have a prediction I want to make: an Earthbound remake will come out on DS Lite or Wii in 2008. Here's the evidence:
Evidence exhibit A: Reggie admitted to never playing the Mother games in Japan (Known as Earthbound in America), but mentioned that him and Satoru Iwata (who worked on the series years ago as a developer) know about the fan translation project and are considering updating the series with a remake.
Evidence exhibit B: Nintendo vice president is interested in putting Japan-only classic games on the Virtual Console for America
Earthbound interest + Japan Virtual Console games for America = Earthbound fans finally get what they've wanted. Keep your fingers crossed, hopefully they're much warmer than mine are.
