05.14.2007 GAMEFLY TRICK: HOW TO GET A WII FOR $50

Remember when iPods brought new life to online scams with their "Annoy 5 friends to do this and this and this" deals? Losing twenty friends is the best free deal money can't buy. Well GameFly is running a similar deal, and according to The Last Boss reader Mark Collins, it works:

I'm sitting here playing my free Wii that I just got from Gamefly and I had to share the story with TLB. Recently I noticed that Gamefly was giving away a Wii or a free year of Gamefly to anyone who got five people to sign up. Instead of actually trying to find people interested in the service, I just gave five of my friends ten bucks and told them to sign up for the cheapest option. Gamefly didn't know the difference and I had my five people signed up in three days. I printed off the Gamefly redemption form and sent it in and soon after all of my friends quit Gamefly. I didn't know if it would work, Gamefly didn't even want money for shipping and handling, but six weeks later and for only $50 I had my Wii.

I can't guarantee that Mark hasn't inadvertently signed up for eight PS3s and a mandatory lifetime subscription, but pending small-print bullshit, this seems like a great deal to look into. I still get an email or two every week begging me to cough up classified Nintendo information, as if Wiis were secretly being sold at strip clubs at night. Although, now that I think about it, a secret strip club gaming black market would be awesome. Just slip the hundred dollar bills into her thong and she walks off the stage and comes back with a Wii clamped in between her boobs. That'd be a great way to sell an extra million Wiis. Thanks for the tip, Mark!

It looks pretty legit. If you go to the gamefly site, go to Store, and click Affiliate Programs on the bottom of the page, theres a link at the bottom left of the page for 'Earn a Wii or 1 Year of Gamefly'. Or just go to friends.gamefly.com

I got a Wii already but still that's sweet - tell me if a deal like that pops up for a PS3! I got plenty of friends who need to be bothered.

i got a ps3 thru onlinerewardcenter.com it took 6 months and about 200$ on shipping and introductory offers. I still have to buy 4 more dvds from columbia house, but they came thru with a 60gb model. the best way to pick a 'free gift' service is to pick on that doesnt require any friends to participate. you'll need to check out the 'how it works' tab on the gift site home page to find out. good luck, its a bear. i had to fill out three different notorized letters during the confirmation sequence. but they came through

This way is legit, however there are some sites out there where you don't have to pay your friends anything (the offers are free).

on freenintendowii.howtogetfreebies.com they say tell you how to get the stuff more in depth, plus its not limited to game fly in case peoples friends don't play video games, lol
