02.08.2007 GUITAR HERO COMING TO NINTENDO WII

During an hour long Activision conference yesterday, CEO Mike Griffith mentioned that Guitar Hero would be coming to the Wii eventually:

The key difference in our strategy versus the prior cycle, is that in addition to full support on Sony and Microsoft platforms, we will aggressively target the Nintendo platforms consistent with our multi-platform strategy and Nintendo’s expected growth. In fiscal 2008, we will double our offerings on the DS and the Wii, including Spider-Man, Shrek, Transformers, and Guitar Hero.

Could be an error in his speech, but I don't see why Guitar Hero wouldn't spread further. With Neversoft now responsible for the series it's just a matter of time before they're able to pump out a new Guitar Hero (or villain) title across all consoles each year. I'm still waiting for Ocarina Hero dammit.

So wait a minute. The whole reason to own a Wii is for the stupid controller right? Now correct me if I'm wrong as I've never bothered with Guitar Hero, but doesn't it require it's own special guitar controller (as pictured) to play? Why the F would someone purchase a Wii and a GH Wii game when the same standard definition graphics and game play can be had on a PS2? Hell the PS2 has an optical audio output and can provide true Dolby, the Wii doesn't even allow for that!

As far as I'm concerned, it's just another way for guitar hero to take over the world. And I'm Ok with that. I love that game. I even wrote a blog about it at my 1up site ( http://www.1up.com/do/my1Up?publicUserId=5832768 ), Just scroll down to the second Blog.

You're right though, I don't really see a point in it being on the Wii, which won't have as good a sound, but it seems like it would be mainly for the diehard Nintinto fans, who never bought a PS2.
