04.25.2007 THE LAST BOSS SITE NEWS
As plenty of you have noticed over the past few weeks, The Last Boss now supports account avatar images for commenting on my news posts, and you even get your own special profile section, too. That means there's no longer three different "Michael" readers all appearing as the same person, we all have a picture to go along with our words. And thanks to our awesome coder Deez, we now also have line breaks working in the comments, so feel free to rant as long as you'd like without worry of it all being smooshed together in one wall of text.
The account profiles (just click on a commenter's picture) should be upgraded in the next few weeks to contain lots of new information sections to help you spread your gamer info to other readers on this site. So sign up if you haven't yet, and upload an account thumbnail to test it out, while I slowly work on getting you all more perks. Or don't, we'll just laugh at your "noob" avatar and disregard your opinions. Besides, I'll get you to sign up eventually, don't fight me - plenty of more reader giveaways are on the way in the next few months.
What else is being planned? Forums? More sidebar sections? More reviews? It's all being considered, and it's ultimately up to you readers. I want to start hearing everyone's opinions on the industry and the daily news, so I can start giving everyone the stories they want, and not just the typical crap they could find elsewhere on other sites. More Japanese games? More gaming music? More concept art? I'm a big _______ fanboy and you want more ________ news? Sign up and help shape the future of the site - the more of a daily community we build, the more press releases and giveaways I can get us, so let's make this the best site it can possibly be.
Don't worry though, being a big asshole and pissing off the majority is still my priority, TLB is all about giving voice to the disgruntled gamers out there, I just want to branch out the hate and underdog support to new horizons. If you've got other site update ideas, feel free to let me know. And if you run into any registration problems please email me and I'll work it out as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone who reads every day, expect a lot of changes in the next few months.
Personally, I'd like to see more from-the-frontlines stuff, like your experiences in that programming class.
Having forums would ultimately detract from that, and there's enough gaming forums out there alerady. Leave the focus on this end.
As for the kind of news, I like the balance that's going on now. I don't care what gets posted, as long as something gets posted. There hasn't been an article yet that I haven't been interested in reading.
Forums though, I could do without. I already spend too much time on other forums elsewhere, I don't need another site to have forums eating my time.
maybe more reviews? We could even write the reviews (with your editorial review first, of course) ourselves?
More buttsecks tho...
Here's an idea for you Tizzom. When a post gets, say, 5 comments, make a little section over on the right that has a thumbnail pic of its graphic and a headline. That way when threads like this get pushed off to page 2 people can still see them if they are late to the party. Basically I'm saying get rid of popular topics and put up popular posts in it's place.
