05.30.2007 DEAD OR ALIVE THEATER RELEASE DATE

Remember when we watched this entire movie four months ago? Me neither. The video has since been removed, but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere if you really want to put yourself through the agony of watching it. I suggest watching the movie's trailer above as a warning of what's in store before you hunt down the whole film. The release date for the movie was rumored to be June 22nd, and now that's being bumped up to June 15th in recent reports. With Spider-Man 3, Pirates 3, and Shrek 3 all out in theaters right now, I don't think Dead Or Alive's timing is too good. I can't wait to see the month-old Pirates 3 beat the D.O.A. movie on its opening weekend.

New rule: Video game movies cannot be live action unless the game is meant to be super realistic because the live action costumes always look retarded. This movie might be okay if it were anime or CG and didn't have a Charlie's Angels script.

Considering I watched Taxi staring Queen Lauqueefa and Jimmy Faggen just for the neato car chase scenes, I'm pretty sure I can stand the shitty acting and script in DOA so long as the fight scenes are as cool as they look in the trailer.

But it had some neat fights, it stayed pretty true to the spirit of the game (including a beach volleyball tribute) and I think your casual fan would get a kick out of it. For non-fans, iot's a decent popcorn flick. I don't think anyone ever expected it to be taken seriously. Then there's the obsessive fans who have a Kasumi-shaped body pillow. Yeah.

The Dead or Alive movie delivers in those aspects. It probably helps that I've never played any of the games.

	05/31/2007 10:41 Kermi says Dexter, it came out in cinemas pretty much everywhere except America about two years ago. I personally didn't see it until I rented it, so it's already on DVD, at least in region 4. I don't know why the huge delays for the US. Probably because it won't make a lot of money. I mean yes, like I said earlier, I liked it. Will it do well against the current lineup? No.
