01.26.2007 WII ROBOT PLAYS TENNIS FOR YOU

While we spend countless nights in front of the TV burning calories playing Wii Sports, the industrial geniuses at USMechatronics have been making robot arms play the Wii for them. Using an industrial robot they strapped a tennis racket to the arm and programmed it to respond to their real life Wiimote movements. This video shows how they just have to effortlessly move their arm and the machine mimics their pattern with unbelievable force. Hopefully the new Wiimote LiveMove technology works this well.

If chess champs get Deep Blue, and the food eating competition industry makes Takeru Kobayashi try to out eat a bear, then I think it's only fair that Nintendo should start holding Wii Sports gaming competitions that challenges any and every brave gamer to out play this Wiimote wonder. I'm naming him Wolly and bringing him with me everywhere I go so I never have to shake another hand in my life. Bill Gates might get his own posse, but not even he has a robot that greets people for him. Thank you Matthew for the tip!

Whoa, I misread you there for a second. I thought you said Kobayashi ate out a bear. Now there's one sexual scenario I don't need to imagine. As for the video, I'm really glad they're arming robots with swords. The robot take-over inches closer.

Even as I was reading Samuel's comment, I couldn't help but think the same thing.

And Wolly? What kind of suck name is that? :P

What same thing? The thing about the bear or the thing about the robots? Both are equally distressing though.

That is so fucking boss, but it scares the fuck out of me. Imagine waking up and one of those huge fucking robots is standing over you, glaring down at you with it's one large robotic eye. Then you skeet in the eye and pull the plug out of the wall. VICTORY!
