The results of the PS3's Australian launch sales are in, and more "records" have been achieved. In the ten days that followed its March 23rd release, more than 27,000 PS3s were sold. Not only is that the biggest surge of launch sales Australia has ever seen, it's also not true. This news has been everywhere today and I was going to end off the day on a good note for Sony gamers, but when I did some backtracking on this site for some kangaroo pictures to use for this post, I realized these claims are entirely false. Cue the dramatic 9/11 Loose Change conspiracy music, let's look at the facts from the past:

Australian 4 day Xbox 360 launch: 30,421 consoles sold
Australian 4 day Nintendo Wii launch: 32,901 consoles sold
Australian ten day PlayStation 3 launch: 27,083 consoles sold

Congratulations Sony, I was going to Photoshop Sixaxis controllers into happy kangaroo hands just for you, but you blew it. Instead you get this dead kangaroo. How can I possibly end off on a good note now? Oh, here Europe, you get Super Rub a Dub bath time fun on the PlayStation Network, and we don't. FUCK YAH!

	04/05/2007 23:25 DSuds says Read the press statements and they don't refer to units sold or even Sony in general. The release week for PS3 was the biggest ever for retail video game sales in Australia. Which given the price differential for the PS3, the fact that the Wii is still moving well and that the games are more expensive than ever before isn't that surprising. Still - not lying by Sony.
